Abbott has maintained that Texas will continue busing migrants to sanctuary cities until President Biden secures the border. Support for Abbott’s actions has been split, with some viewing it as a service to the country and a way to highlight the issue of immigration, while others have criticized it as cruel and disorganized. Democrats are at odds with each other over how to handle the situation, and there are concerns that public trust in the party to address border and immigration issues is waning. In response to Abbott’s practices, which they believe have caused chaos, local Democratic lawmakers are calling on him to coordinate and communicate better when sending migrants to their entities. The White House has also condemned Abbott’s tactics since the buses the Governor has sent have caused political strife by deploying at chaotic places and backing up to the Vice President’s residence.
