Tim Hammonds of Red Springs, NC has signed to play football at North Carolina A&T after a signing ceremony in his hometown. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman becomes the first Red Springs football player since 2014 to sign with a Division-I program. He will be joining former Purnell Swett player Jodi Freeman at the Aggies. Hammonds was attracted by the Aggies’ family atmosphere and looks forward to making a run for a championship with his new team. North Carolina A&T coach Vincent Brown praised Hammonds’ skills, describing him as a physical player with a combination of speed and power.
Hammonds has had an impressive high school career, earning All-State, All-County, and All-Conference selections, as well as an invitation to the East-West All-Star Game. He received several other Division-I offers, including from Campbell, Gardner-Webb, and Long Island, but felt that North Carolina A&T was the best fit for him. This signing is a milestone for Red Springs’ football program, which is looking to continue growing under Coach Tim Ray.
Hammonds hopes to be an example for other young athletes in his community, showing them that it is possible to make it to a Division-I program from Red Springs. He looks forward to leading by example and inspiring others to follow in his footsteps. His commitment to North Carolina A&T marks a significant achievement both for his high school and for him personally.
