Athletics at the University of North Carolina


The University of North Carolina Tar Heels had a successful 2024 baseball season, finishing with a record of 48-16 and winning their eighth Coastal Division title. The team returned to the College World Series for the first time in six years, sweeping West Virginia in the NCAA Chapel Hill Super Regional to earn their 12th trip to Omaha. UNC set a program record with 115 home runs and scored 541 runs, the second-most in program history.

Key players like Vance Honeycutt, Casey Cook, and Parks Harber had standout seasons, earning All-America accolades and All-ACC honors. Coach Scott Forbes was named ACC and ABCA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year for his leadership throughout the season.

UNC’s success was also reflected in individual achievements, with Honeycutt breaking the school’s career home run record and finishing with the fourth-most home runs in ACC history. Cook drove in 78 runs, the fifth-most in a season in program history, while Harber hit three home runs in a single game, a rare feat for a Tar Heel player.

The Tar Heels also excelled academically, with several players earning All-ACC Academic honors. Overall, UNC had a strong season on and off the field, showcasing their talent and dedication to the sport.
