Cooper se unirá virtualmente a la reunión de gobernadores demócratas con Biden.

Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina will be among a group of Democratic governors meeting with President Joe Biden on Wednesday night in a closed-door meeting at the White House. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with Cooper attending virtually.

Other governors in attendance include Tim Walz of Minnesota, California’s Gavin Newsom, Illinois’ JB Pritzker, Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer, Kentucky’s Andy Beshear, Rhode Island’s Dan McKee, Massachusetts’ Maura Healey, Maryland’s Wes Moore, and Delaware’s John Carney. Governors Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Phil Murphy of New Jersey will also be joining virtually.

The meeting is aimed at boosting support for Biden following his poor performance in a debate with former President Donald Trump. However, some Democrats, such as Representative Lloyd Doggett of Texas and 25 others in the House, are expressing concerns about Biden’s reelection campaign.

Cooper, Whitmer, Newsom, Pritzker, Shapiro, and Beshear have been mentioned as possible replacements for Biden if he were to drop out, with Vice President Kamala Harris also being considered. Despite this, there are reports indicating that Harris is the top choice to replace Biden.

Cooper praised Biden at a rally in Raleigh, highlighting Biden’s accomplishments in expanding Medicaid and infrastructure improvements. He also criticized Trump, calling him a threat to democracy and the nation.

Overall, the meeting between Democratic governors and Biden is expected to focus on building support for the President’s agenda and addressing concerns about his reelection campaign.
