The bill allowing to-go alcohol sales has passed both the North Carolina House and Senate, and now awaits the governor’s signature.
Many in the food and beverage industry see this as a positive step, providing convenience for consumers and creating an additional revenue stream for businesses. However, there are concerns about the costs associated with providing to-go containers. Opponents of the bill, such as the Christian Action League of North Carolina, argue that it is irresponsible and poses a safety risk.
If the bill is signed into law, it would also permit liquor stores to open on certain holidays such as New Year’s Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day.
