Expansion of North Carolina Casino Includes Poker Room and Hotel Tower in Multiple Phases

Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel in Murphy, North Carolina, is on track to open a 12-story hotel tower by the end of 2024, adding 296 guest rooms to the property. The resort’s general manager, Lumpy Lambert, expressed excitement about the progress made in expanding the resort’s offerings since breaking ground in 2022.

Located near two states without land-based casinos, Tennessee and Georgia, Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River is positioning itself as a premier destination for gaming and entertainment in the region. While Tennessee allows sports betting, Georgia does not, making North Carolina a desirable location for those looking to wager on sports.

In addition to the hotel tower, the $275 million expansion project includes an indoor pool, fitness center, rooftop restaurant, spa, and a 10-table World Series of Poker room. This expansion is part of Phase 2 of the development, with Phase 1 already completed in May, which included a new casino floor.

As sports betting continues to gain popularity across the country, Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River is taking advantage of the opportunity to offer both gaming and sports wagering options to its guests. With the opening of the new hotel tower and additional amenities, the resort is set to become a top destination for tourists and locals alike.
