Venezuela, China, India, Iraq, Pakistan, Kuwait, and Syria also congratulated Pezeshkian on his election, expressing their commitment to working together and strengthening bilateral relations. The leaders of these countries expressed optimism for the future and highlighted their shared interests in promoting peace and stability in the region.
Pezeshkian’s election comes after the untimely death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash, leading to an early election in Iran. The new president has pledged to open Iran to the world and work towards building strong international relations.
