President Joe Biden criticized former President Donald Trump for his connections to Project 2025, a detailed plan created by the right-wing think tank The Heritage Foundation. The plan, also known as the 2025 Presidential Transition Project, includes a 180-day transition plan and a domestic and foreign policy agenda. Biden warned that the project would give Trump unlimited power, target abortion rights, and undermine democracy.
The focus on Project 2025 comes as Biden faces calls from some Democrats to drop out of the race following a widely criticized debate with Trump. Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts praised a recent Supreme Court ruling as crucial to carrying out the group’s goals, referring to it as the “second American Revolution.”
Trump attempted to distance himself from Project 2025, claiming he knows nothing about it and disagreeing with some of its aspects. However, the Biden-Harris campaign quickly refuted this, linking the project to Trump and warning of its potential to “destroy America.”
Project 2025’s plans to overhaul government agencies, replace civil servants with political appointees, and reverse progressive policies have alarmed Democrats. Rep. Jasmine Crockett has called it a “playbook for authoritarianism.” The project continues to spark controversy and raise concerns about threats to democracy and individual freedoms.
