Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, who is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, showed her support for tennis legend Andy Murray during Wimbledon through a message on Instagram. Murray, 37, played one of his final matches at Wimbledon on July 5, emotionally addressing his retirement due to physical challenges caused by injuries. Princess Kate and Murray have been friends for years, with the tennis star giving her a silent shoutout during a match in 2023. In a surprise video call during the pandemic, Kate and Murray encouraged young tennis athletes by sharing their passion for the sport. Kate, who attends Wimbledon every year, missed the 2013 matches due to doctor’s orders to rest ahead of giving birth to Prince George. Regardless, she expressed her admiration for Murray’s achievements, including his consecutive Grand Slam titles. In a BBC documentary, Kate emphasized the significance of Wimbledon in inspiring youngsters to get involved in the game. Despite missing some of Murray’s major wins, she was able to witness his third title in 2016. Through their friendship and shared love for tennis, Kate continues to support Murray from afar as he closes this chapter of his Wimbledon career.
