The ‘Ingles Independence Day Block Party’ in downtown Asheville set records for businesses on the South Slope, with one of the biggest holiday celebrations yet. Thousands of people attended the event, spending thousands of dollars at local restaurants and breweries. Hayden Plemmons, executive director of the Asheville Downtown Association, expressed excitement at the turnout, noting the positive impact on businesses in the area.
One establishment that benefitted from the block party was the Well Played Board Game Cafe, which saw its highest number of visitors ever during the Fourth of July celebration. General manager Mike Belsole mentioned that the cafe was full throughout the day and received hundreds of guests. The boost from the event has put the game cafe in a better position as it enters the peak tourist fall season.
The successful Independence Day celebration highlighted the thriving business community on the South Slope and showcased Asheville as a vibrant and festive city. With a record-breaking turnout and positive feedback from attendees, the future looks promising for the annual event. The incredible support from local businesses, combined with the unobstructed views of the fireworks show, made the block party a memorable experience for all who attended.
