The Land of Oz theme park in Beech Mountain, North Carolina, is set to reopen temporarily this fall for the Autumn at Oz Festival. From September 6-8, 13-15, and 20-22, visitors can experience the largest Oz festival in the world, celebrating the 85th anniversary of the classic film starring Judy Garland. The festival will feature arts and crafts, memorabilia, food vendors, and immersive theatrical experiences of the beloved story.
Originally opened from 1970-1980, the park closed due to a fire in 1975 and bankruptcy in 1980. However, former employees began reunions in 1988, leading to the yearly re-openings that would later become the Autumn at Oz Festival in 1993. Funds from these events are reinvested into the park for restoration and maintenance.
The Autumn at Oz Festival offers a unique opportunity for fans of “The Wizard of Oz” to experience the magic of the story firsthand as they journey from the Gale Kansas Farm to the Emerald City. While Saturday tickets have already sold out, tickets for other dates are still available for purchase on the park’s website, landofoznc.com. Don’t miss out on this nostalgic and enchanting experience in the Land of Oz.
