North Carolina athletes set to make Olympic debut on Tuesday

Team USA’s 3×3 women’s basketball team is set to make their Olympics debut on Tuesday against Germany at La Concorde. The team includes star athletes Cierra Burdick and Dearica Hamby from North Carolina. Burdick, a Charlotte native, had a successful career playing for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers and in the WNBA. Hamby, a Wake Forest University standout, currently plays for the Los Angeles Sparks. The match will be broadcast on WCNC Charlotte at 11:30 a.m.

The U.S. team consists of experienced pro and college players, with Burdick, Hamby, and their teammates bringing a wealth of experience to the 3×3 game. The team has not been together for long, but they are prepared and excited to represent their country on the world stage. Burdick previously won gold at the World Cup and has teamed up with Van Lith, who also has experience in the 3×3 variation.

Although the women’s team will be facing tough competition, they are committed to giving their all and showcasing their skills in the half-court 3×3 game. The athletes are grateful for the opportunity to compete and wear the USA uniform, and they are focused on making the most of their time at the Olympics. Viewers can watch the match on WCNC Charlotte and follow the team’s journey in the tournament.
