Van Rouwendaal made a strategic move at the turn to maintain her lead against Johnson and Chelsea Gubecka. The swimmers faced challenges from the currents and underwater obstacles, with some sustaining injuries. The Olympics have seen triumphs and challenges, with Ethiopia’s Lamecha Girma suffering a fall in the 3000m steeplechase final. The crowd held their breath as Girma was attended to by medics after hitting his head on the track. The Olympics continue to showcase the highs and lows of elite sports competition.
