A Ferris wheel fire at a music festival in Leipzig has left at least 23 people injured. Eyewitnesses reported the gondolas were spinning wildly as they caught fire. First responders and police officers were hospitalized for possible smoke inhalation, with four people sustaining burn injuries and one falling. The cause of the fire is under investigation by criminal investigators. The incident occurred at the city’s indie-rock Highfield Festival, where around 30,000 people were in attendance. The German Red Cross reported that at least two people were seriously injured. The police have blocked off the area for further investigation.
