When will the first presidential debate take place between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris?

The first presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris has been announced to take place in Philadelphia on Tuesday, September 10. The debate will be moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis of ABC News, with a pre-debate special hosted by Martha Raddatz, Jonathan Karl, Mary Bruce, and Rachel Scott. In order to qualify to participate in the debate, candidates must meet the requirements outlined in the U.S. Constitution, file a Statement of Candidacy with the FEC, and appear on a sufficient number of state ballots to attain a majority of electoral votes. Additionally, participants must reach at least 15% support in four separate national polls conducted by reputable organizations between August 1 and September 3, 2024. The Harris-Walz campaign has agreed to three debates total, with two presidential debates and one vice presidential debate, while Trump’s campaign has proposed additional dates for debates. The vice presidential debate between Ohio Sen. JD Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is also scheduled for October 1, moderated by CBS News. The first debate will be broadcast on ABC and will also be available for streaming on ABC News Live, Disney+, and Hulu.
