Congresswoman Virginia Foxx, NC-5, has issued subpoenas to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s administration, the Biden Administration’s USDA, and Office of the Inspector General (OIG) in an alleged Covid-19 fraud scheme. This scheme involves the Minnesota-based Feeding Our Future organization, which allegedly defrauded taxpayers of $250 million in funds. 70 individuals have been charged, with five convicted, on charges including federal programs bribery, wire fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering. The House Committee on Workforce and Education, chaired by Foxx, is investigating the administration of federal child nutrition programs and Feeding Our Future. The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), responsible for administering these programs in the state, is under scrutiny for its oversight of FOF. Despite efforts to obtain information from Governor Walz and the USDA, the Committee has resorted to issuing subpoenas to compel responses. The MDE has been criticized for its lack of timely and fully responsive information, as the Committee seeks to understand how such extensive fraud was allowed to occur. Dozens of individuals associated with the scheme are still awaiting trial. Questions remain regarding the involvement of executive officers and their knowledge of the fraud. Foxx’s actions are part of a broader effort to uncover the truth behind what has been described as the largest pandemic fraud in the nation. Governor Walz and other officials are being called upon to provide information and cooperate with the investigation.
