In a tragic turn of events, a 16-year-old girl was killed in a Russian artillery attack on the Ukrainian town of Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The attack also left two men aged 79 and 74, as well as a 66-year-old woman, injured. The town, situated near the Russian-occupied Enerhodar and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, has been a frequent target of Russian strikes.
This incident is part of a larger wave of Russian attacks across Ukraine, resulting in at least seven deaths and dozens of injuries. From Donetsk to Mykolaiv, regions have reported strikes, with Sumy bearing the brunt of a deadly rocket attack. Ukrainian forces have managed to down six out of eight drones launched by Russia, along with two cruise missiles.
As Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues, China’s Defence Ministry has announced upcoming joint naval and air drills with Russia. The exercises, named “Northern United 2024,” will take place in the Sea of Japan and Sea of Okhotsk. This collaboration underscores the close military relationship between the two countries.
The Russian Ministry of Defence has also released footage showing its aviation crews carrying out air strikes on Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. These developments highlight the escalating violence in the region and the need for a swift resolution to the conflict to prevent further civilian casualties.
