Wildfire raging in San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California

Firefighters in Highland, California are battling the Line Fire in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains, which has burned more than 17,000 acres with zero containment as of September 8, 2024. Evacuations have been ordered for nearby neighborhoods, and more warnings are expected as crews work to contain the blaze in severe temperatures. California Governor Gavin Newsom and San Bernardino County authorities have declared a state of emergency in the area. The fire has caused significant damage, burning trees and threatening homes and ranches. Embers have engulfed Highway 330, and firefighting personnel are working hard to monitor and control the flames. Residents are taking precautions to protect their property, with one man seen watering the roof of his home. A firefighting helicopter has been deployed to drop water on the fire. The situation remains ongoing and dangerous as firefighters continue their efforts to contain the Line Fire and protect the affected communities.
