Qatar Airways has implemented a ban on pagers and two-way radios on flights departing from Beirut in response to recent explosions targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon. The ban applies to both checked and carry-on luggage, as well as cargo, and will be in effect until further notice. The decision was made in compliance with a directive from Lebanon’s civil aviation authorities.
The explosions in Beirut, which Hezbollah has blamed on Israel, resulted in the deaths of 37 people and injuries to around 3,000 individuals. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah called the attacks a major security and military blow, unprecedented in the history of the resistance and Lebanon. The incidents have caused chaos in Lebanon and strained its already overwhelmed hospitals.
Qatar Airways serves over 170 international destinations and is a prominent regional carrier in the Middle East, operating out of its base in Doha. The recent ban on pagers and two-way radios is part of the airline’s efforts to enhance security measures in response to the traumatic events in Beirut. The situation remains tense as authorities investigate the attacks and work to prevent further violence in the region.
