A new six-figure ad campaign targeting vulnerable Republicans in North Carolina House districts is set to launch by the left-wing group Unlocking America’s Future. The digital ads focus on House Bill 750, which prohibits the use of ESG criteria in employment decisions. The attack ad will specifically target three key swing districts held by Reps. Ward, Chesser, and Fontenot. The goal is to prevent North Carolina Republicans from retaining a supermajority in the upcoming elections.
According to Andy Jackson of the Civitas Center for Public Integrity, Democrats are eyeing these districts as potential pickups. UAF, the group behind the campaign, has been distributing attack ads against Republicans in various states, emphasizing environmental causes and left-wing advocacy. The ad campaign comes as Congresswoman Virginia Foxx criticizes ESG policies, calling them “woke garbage” and advocating for a return to true capitalism in America. Jackson highlights the importance of Republicans defending incumbents in Democratic-leaning districts to maintain their supermajority in 2025.
The ads are expected to heighten tensions in the upcoming elections, where the balance of power in the North Carolina General Assembly hangs in the balance. As political parties gear up for a fierce battle, the influence of groups like UAF and the stance on ESG policies will likely be central issues in the campaigns leading up to the elections.
