Search underway for missing Yellowstone employee who disappeared during solo hike

Austin King, a 22-year-old park employee at Yellowstone National Park, went missing after failing to return from a solo week-long hike to Eagle Peak, the park’s highest point. He was last heard from on Tuesday, Sept. 17, and his camp and personal effects were discovered on Saturday. A search and rescue operation involving ground searchers, helicopters, drones, and search dogs has been ongoing since then. King had described challenging weather conditions at the summit of Eagle Peak before losing contact. Rescuers are focusing their efforts on the area around Eagle Peak, as well as expanding the search to neighboring national parks. The National Park Service has released photos and information about King, requesting help from anyone who may have encountered him since his disappearance. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Yellowstone Interagency Communications Center. As of now, King remains missing, and the search continues in hopes of finding him and bringing him back safely.
