The agency raised concerns about its ability to secure the event as they were already deployed at the United Nations General Assembly summit in New York. This change comes amid heightened threats against Trump, including an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania and another apparent attempt at his Florida golf course. Intelligence officials and lawmakers have warned about threats from Iran against Trump and other officials. The Secret Service received about $231 million in additional funding from Congress following the attempts on Trump’s life. Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson has criticized the agency for lack of transparency in the investigation of the assassination attempt. Trump is expected to focus on immigration and crime during his visit to western Wisconsin. The campaign did not respond to questions about the change of plans.
