The first $1 million check was awarded at a PAC event supporting Republican Donald Trump, raising questions about the legality of the payments. Musk handed the check to a man named John Dreher, who was unaware of the prize.
Musk launched America PAC in support of Trump’s campaign, aiming to mobilize voters in battleground states. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro expressed concern about the cash payments to registered voters, as it is illegal to induce or reward people to vote or register. He suggested that law enforcement may need to investigate the matter.
Musk’s event in Harrisburg was part of a series in Pennsylvania where he urged supporters to vote early and recruit others to do the same. He warned that if Kamala Harris wins, it would be “the last election” and highlighted his support for the First and Second Amendments.
Musk, the world’s richest person according to Forbes, has contributed at least $75 million to America PAC, making it a significant part of Trump’s re-election campaign. He has become an outspoken Trump supporter and Trump has even mentioned appointing him to head a government efficiency commission if re-elected.
