Israel continues its assault in northern Gaza, targeting residential buildings in Beit Lahiya and resulting in the deaths of at least 87 people. The Israeli army claims it is aiming to stop Hamas from regrouping in the region, with evacuation orders affecting around 400,000 people, trapping many unable to leave due to intense bombardments and ground troops. UN estimates suggest that approximately 20 percent of the population of Gaza is affected by the evacuation orders, with conditions worsening as food supplies dwindle and aid is restricted from entering the north. The UN warns that any forcible transfer of the population of northern Gaza would constitute a war crime.
The humanitarian situation in northern Gaza continues to deteriorate, as hospitals face bombings and shortages of essential supplies. Despite the challenges, doctors have refused to leave their patients. The Israeli military denies restricting aid supplies, claiming that humanitarian aid has been entering Gaza through various crossings. However, the Government Media Office refutes these claims, calling them “lies.”
Medics report that at least 450 people have been killed in northern Gaza since the siege began on October 6, with a focus on the Jabalia refugee camp resulting in the deaths of at least 33 people. The ongoing assault has left civilians feeling like bodies without souls, fearing for their lives as they are caught in the crossfire. Rescue efforts are hampered by a communications blackout and road obstructions, making it difficult for aid and medical supplies to reach those in need.
