The Food Standards Authority (FSA) has issued a recall of over 20 dips and seasonings produced by FGS Ingredients over fears that they may contain undeclared peanuts, posing a risk for consumers with allergies. Some of the affected products include Domino’s BBQ Dip, Westmorland Family Butchery sausages and burgers, as well as seasonings and curry powders with the Favourit and Dunnes Store labels. This is the second recall of items from FGS in recent weeks, following concerns over mustard contamination. While FGS reported that they did not detect any peanut content or residue in their products, the FSA is taking a precautionary step to ensure consumer safety.
Consumers who have purchased these products are advised to return them for a full refund. Point of sale notices will be displayed where the products were sold. The previous recall of mustard-containing products from FGS also included items such as Domino’s garlic and herb dip and sandwiches from Spar convenience stores. The FSA has traced the contaminated mustard ingredients to a producer in India and identified FGS as the only company in the UK using these ingredients.
The Guardian has reached out to FGS for comment on the latest recall. This development underscores the importance of accurate labeling and transparency in food production to protect consumers, particularly those with food allergies.
