Repeat Offender Caught on Camera Stealing Signs from Fraternal Order of Police Charlotte Office

A recent string of sign thefts targeting political signs outside the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fraternal Order of Police office has attracted national attention. The thief, caught on camera stealing signs in support of various political candidates, was seen on three separate occasions in a span of a week and a half. The signs included support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, Democrat Senate candidate Woodsen Bradley, and Republican Luke Farley for NC Labor Commissioner.

Despite the repeated thefts, the president of the Charlotte FOP, Daniel Redford, stated that the attention drawn to the incident has inadvertently helped bring more attention to the candidates they support. Redford also emphasized that the FOP has members from both political parties and that they endorse candidates based on the will of their members.

While the identity of the sign thief remains unknown, a police report has been filed and the FOP is prepared to provide an update on their Facebook page if more information becomes available. In a statement, Luke Farley, a Labor Commissioner candidate whose sign was stolen, condemned the actions of sign thieves, highlighting the financial and personal effort that goes into campaigning.

This incident comes on the heels of another sign theft involving a North Carolina House candidate and Democratic county chair who was charged with stealing Trump campaign signs. The 68-year-old candidate resigned from his position following the arrest and is scheduled to appear in court on October 30. Overall, these cases serve as a reminder of the importance of respecting political signage and the democratic process.
