Which billionaires are making large contributions in the Pennsylvania Senate race?

Pennsylvania’s Senate race has seen nearly $300 million in spending, with Super PACs overshadowing the candidates themselves. Ultra-wealthy donors are using these committees to influence the closely divided Senate and the outcome in Pennsylvania. While candidates Bob Casey and Dave McCormick have spent $51 million and $25 million respectively, outside groups have collectively spent $210 million on the race. McCormick is supported by the pro-McCormick super PAC Keystone Renewal, which has received over $35 million from fewer than 100 donors, including hedge fund manager Paul Singer and Citadel CEO Ken Griffin.

Other top contributors to Keystone Renewal include Thomas Peterffy, Antonio Gracias, and Elizabeth Uihlein. On the other hand, Casey is receiving support from the Senate Leadership Fund, linked to Sen. Mitch McConnell, and the Schumer-aligned Senate Majority PAC, which is backed by billionaires like Stephen Mandel and Reed Hastings. Additionally, the Majority Forward dark money group is supporting Casey, with funding from undisclosed sources. Casey is also backed by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

The race is attracting attention from wealthy individuals such as Jeff Yass, Jan Koum, Steve Wynn, Charles Johnson, and Stephen Schwarzman, who are contributing substantial amounts to PACs supporting either Casey or McCormick. This influx of money from billionaires is shaping the outcome of the Pennsylvania Senate race and highlights the significant influence of Super PACs in modern American politics.
