Charlotte Benefit Concert Raises Over $24.5 Million for Hurricane Relief
CHARLOTTE, NC – A star-studded benefit concert held on Saturday at Bank of America Stadium has successfully raised at least $24.5 million for disaster relief efforts following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina. The event, dubbed the Concert for Carolina, attracted over 80,000 attendees and showcased a remarkable lineup of country music stars, including Luke Combs, Eric Church, James Taylor, Keith Urban, and Sheryl Crow, among others.
The concert was made possible through the generous donation of the stadium by Panthers owner David Tepper. Despite initial weather delays, the show commenced and concluded around 2 am, reflecting the tremendous dedication from artists and organizers. "It’s been a monumental effort on so many people’s lives to make this show happen," said Combs, a North Carolina native, crediting an incredible collaboration that pulled the concert together within just 28 days.
All funds raised from the concert will be allocated between Combs and Church for Hurricane Helene relief initiatives of their choosing. Combs plans to distribute his share among local organizations, including Samaritan’s Purse and Manna Food Bank. Meanwhile, Church announced an ambitious project to build 100 homes for families displaced by the hurricane through his initiative, Chief Cares. He emphasized the importance of community, stating, “It’s what made me. It’s my home.”
Church’s “Blueprint for the Blue Ridge” aims to provide shelter for the impacted families, enabling them to remain in their communities and begin the rebuilding process. Chief Cares is focusing its charitable efforts on the areas most affected by the hurricane, underscoring the commitment of artists to support their home state in times of need.
