White House Chooses North Carolina Family’s Christmas Tree Farm for 2024 Tree

White House Selects This Year’s Christmas Tree from North Carolina Farm

As the holiday season approaches, the White House is gearing up for its annual tradition of selecting the perfect Christmas tree. This year, the honor goes to Cartner’s Christmas Tree Farm in Newland, North Carolina, recognized through the National Christmas Tree Contest. The family-owned farm has been growing Fraser firs since 1959 and is excited to showcase the industry’s top choice for the nation’s Christmas tree.

Owner Sam Cartner expressed his pride in being selected, emphasizing the importance of Fraser firs for both environmental sustainability and family traditions. “It’s totally recyclable and good for the environment and good for families,” Cartner told Fox News Digital. Since 1966, the National Christmas Tree Association has presented the official White House Christmas Tree, displayed in the Blue Room.

Four White House officials will visit Cartner’s farm to select the final tree from a selection of six to eight trees, each standing 18-19 feet tall and no wider than 12 feet. Cartner praised the Fraser fir for its fragrance, color, and suitability to the region’s climate, noting that the trees take around 25 years to grow.

In addition to providing a premium Christmas tree, the Cartner brothers, who manage the farm, emphasize creating a memorable experience for families who visit to cut their own trees. They encourage families to seek out farms that offer a full holiday experience, including food, music, and storytelling.

As part of their commitment to community, Cartner’s will host a ‘harvest’ fundraiser on Nov. 20, benefiting families affected by recent flooding in western North Carolina. The Cartners look forward to sharing the holiday spirit with Washington and their local community.
