Poll Shows Mark Robinson, Despite Scandals, Not Dragging Down Trump in NC

A recent poll conducted by East Carolina University in North Carolina shows that support for the GOP presidential nominee, Donald Trump, remains strong despite controversy surrounding the Republican candidate for governor, Mark Robinson. The survey of 1,005 likely voters in North Carolina conducted in late September indicates that many voters are considering splitting their tickets between the presidential and gubernatorial races.

While Trump holds a narrow lead over Kamala Harris in North Carolina, Robinson is lagging significantly behind his Democratic opponent, Josh Stein, in the gubernatorial race. Robinson, who has been plagued by scandals and controversial statements, has seen a significant decline in support among various demographics, including Republicans, men, women, white voters, and independents.

In contrast, Trump continues to maintain solid support among men, white voters, and Republicans, despite facing challenges with female and black voters. While Trump leads among independent voters in North Carolina, his support among black voters remains low.

Peter Francia, the director of the ECU Center for Survey Research, has stated that Robinson’s scandals have had a major impact on the gubernatorial race and that Stein is now the clear favorite to win the election. These poll results indicate a significant shift in support within the North Carolina electorate and could have implications for the outcome of the upcoming elections.
