Amber Alert Issued for Missing Children in Haywood County

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. — The Haywood County Sheriff’s Office has issued an Amber Alert for two children reportedly abducted on Monday night, prompting authorities to seek the public’s assistance in locating them.

The missing children are 12-year-old Alazay Shelby Rose, who is approximately 5 feet tall, weighs 100 pounds, and has black hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans. Her younger sister, 3-year-old Kinley Maelena Stepp, is described as 3 feet tall, weighing 45 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. Kinley was last seen in a pink shirt and blue jeans.

Authorities believe the children were taken from their home on Ben Medford Drive in Waynesville shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Monday. The suspect in their abduction is 46-year-old Jacob Grant Aaron Stepp, described as 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds, with brown hair, green eyes, and tattoos on both shoulders.

Jacob Stepp may be traveling in a 2016 white Dodge Challenger with black racing stripes. The vehicle may display a fictitious license plate reading KMC5951.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of the children or the suspect to contact the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office at 828-452-6600 or dial 911 or *HP. Your assistance could be crucial in bringing these children home safely.

The community is on high alert as the search for Alazay and Kinley continues, with hopes that their safe return is imminent.
