Former WWE CEO appointed as Chief of Department of Education by Trump

Former CEO of WWE Linda McMahon has been nominated by Donald Trump to lead the Department of Education, which Trump has vowed to abolish. McMahon, a co-chair of Trump’s transition team, is described as a “fierce advocate for Parents’ Rights” by Trump. She has experience in education, having served on the Connecticut Board of Education and the board of trustees at Sacred Heart University. McMahon left WWE in 2009, ran for US Senate, and has been a major donor to Trump. Since 2021, she has chaired the Center For The American Worker at the America First Policy Institute. Trump has promised to eliminate the federal Department of Education, citing McMahon’s business experience in growing WWE. She previously served as head of the Small Business Administration and chaired the pro-Trump America First Action SuperPAC. McMahon’s ties with Trump date back to their time in the professional wrestling industry, where Trump body-slammed her husband Vince McMahon on live television. McMahon has expressed her gratitude for Trump’s support and friendship. If confirmed, McMahon will play a key role in reshaping education policy in the United States.
