A volcano near Reykjavik, Iceland erupted for the tenth time in three years, causing lava to flow towards a geothermal spa resort and hot water pipeline. The eruption began on Wednesday night and was ongoing as of Thursday, with no disruptions to air traffic or infrastructure reported. Authorities had warned of volcanic activity in the area as magma accumulated beneath the peninsula. The most recent eruption there ended on Sept. 6. The Icelandic meteorological office said there was no noticeable increase in seismic activity leading up to this eruption. Videos and images showed the volcano spewing bright orange and yellow lava into the sky and flowing southwards. The Blue Lagoon resort was evacuated and closed for safety measures. The eruption took place about 20 miles southwest of Reykjavik.
