Authorities in South Carolina have arrested 25-year-old Setoby Armstrong for driving under the influence (DUI) and failing to stop for police lights. Armstrong was also the last person seen with his missing girlfriend, Ta’Haley Payton, who has not been seen since November 19. The couple had traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina, to celebrate Payton’s birthday.
Armstrong was taken into custody after he was captured on a Facebook Live stream fleeing from police. The video shows him wearing sunglasses and a hoodie in his car, with police lights flashing behind him. Despite briefly pulling over, Armstrong ultimately decided to flee from the officers.
Ta’Haley’s disappearance was reported by her family after they lost contact with her during the birthday trip with Armstrong. The North Carolina Beat has also highlighted Armstrong’s connection to Ta’Haley’s case. However, it remains unclear whether authorities will question him about her disappearance while he is detained in South Carolina.
Armstrong is currently being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on a $900 cash bond for the DUI charge and a $5,000 bond for failing to stop for the police lights. The case has raised suspicions about Armstrong’s involvement in Ta’Haley’s disappearance, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
