Multiple House Democrats from Connecticut, including the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, were targeted with bomb threats at their homes on Thanksgiving Day. Fortunately, all members and their families are safe, and no bombs were found. The threats came one day after several of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees received similar threats. Representative Jim Himes, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, received a bomb threat at his home while celebrating Thanksgiving, but no evidence of a bomb was found after a thorough response. He emphasized that there is no place for political violence in the country and called for unity and civility during the holiday season. Representative Jahana Hayes also received a bomb threat in an email claiming a pipe bomb was placed in her mailbox, but no bomb or explosive materials were found. Representative Joe Courtney also received a bomb threat, but it was not substantiated. All three representatives expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their swift response and emphasized that such threats will not be tolerated. Despite the threats, the representatives encouraged everyone to spend a safe and happy Thanksgiving with their loved ones.
