The Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church in Greenville, North Carolina is hosting a holiday toy drive for over 400 children and families affected by flooding in Western North Carolina. The church is collecting toys, pajamas, socks, undergarments, coats, hats, gloves, and gift cards for children ages 4 to 8. Local churches are coming together to support this initiative, with 9-year-old Miles expressing joy in giving back to children his age who have lost everything.
Efforts to aid those in Western North Carolina began after a church member made trips to feed recovery workers in the mountains. The Black Jack Church has been working with Swannanoa First Baptist Church in Black Mountain, the only church not flooded, to donate items just in time for Christmas. Donations of food, clothing, cleaning supplies, and tools have been sent in previous loads, with a fourth load planned to deliver all the collected goods next Wednesday.
The church members are grateful for the generosity of those who have donated, expressing thanks to the community for their support in helping those in need. Donations for the toy drive are being accepted at the gym across from the Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church in Greenville on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The church plans to deliver all goods to Swannanoa on December 4th.
