The head of the UK’s MI6, Richard Moore, has warned of Russia’s “staggeringly reckless campaign” of sabotage in Europe and nuclear sabre-rattling to discourage support for Ukraine. Moore’s speech in Paris emphasized the importance of standing with Ukraine to prevent Putin from expanding further. He highlighted the risks of not supporting Ukraine, including emboldening China, North Korea, and Iran. Western intelligence officials have also warned of increasing Russian sabotage actions in Europe. Nato and other intelligence services have attributed various hostile activities to Russia, such as cyber-attacks and arson. Moore called for continued cooperation between the UK and the US to ensure shared security. Meanwhile, Ukraine reported a drone attack that killed one person and injured eight others, following a barrage of missiles that cut power to over a million people. Russia claimed to have seized a village in Ukraine’s Donbas region and downed 47 Ukrainian attack drones. The situation in Ukraine remains tense, with ongoing military operations and power outages in several regions. The conflict has also caused unrest in Georgia, where protests erupted after the government suspended EU accession talks. The situation in the region is evolving rapidly as tensions escalate.
