The Republican Governors Association has indicated that they do not plan to place more ads in North Carolina, following allegations that GOP Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson posted inflammatory messages on a porn site. The organization has spent nearly $16 million on the North Carolina governor’s race. Robinson allegedly referred to himself as a “black Nazi” on a porn website in the past, which has led to several top campaign staffers resigning. Former President Donald Trump, who endorsed Robinson, did not mention him at a recent campaign rally. Robinson has denied making the offensive posts and is considering legal action against CNN for reporting on them. Several Republicans, including Sen. Lindsey Graham, have called on Robinson to address the allegations. Sen. Thom Tillis has demanded that Robinson either take legal action against CNN or drop out of the governor’s race. Despite the controversy, some voters, like Sommer Celmer, are still planning to vote for Robinson. However, Robinson currently trails behind opponent Josh Stein in the race for governor. The political fallout from these allegations has created uncertainty around Robinson’s campaign and raised questions about his fitness for office.
