President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Alina Habba, a member of his legal team, as counselor to the president for his upcoming second term. Habba has represented Trump in several lawsuits, including against his former attorney Michael Cohen, his niece Mary L. Trump, and The New York Times. She is a managing partner at Habba, Madaio & Associates, a law firm in New Jersey near Trump’s golf club. Trump praised Habba’s loyalty, legal skills, and advocacy for justice and the rule of law. She has an undergraduate degree from Lehigh University and a law degree from Widener University Commonwealth Law School. Habba, a first-generation Arab American woman and devout Catholic, spoke at the Republican National Convention this year. Trump highlighted her as a role model for women in law and politics, naming her Chaldean Woman of the Year. Habba’s appointment reflects Trump’s confidence in her abilities and her dedication to his team, as demonstrated by her work as a spokesperson and legal advisor.
