Investigation Underway for KKK Social Media Threat in North Carolina and Georgia

Authorities in North Carolina and Georgia, along with NAACP leaders, are actively investigating a concerning social media threat from the Ku Klux Klan targeting Black Americans, specifically Black women. The threat, originating from Lexington, North Carolina, claims that KKK members are planning to attack Black individuals leading up to the Inauguration. According to reports, a woman shared the alarming post, which was brought to light by a friend in the Gwinnett County sheriff’s Office.

In response to the threat, the Gwinnett County sheriff’s office released a statement revealing they had discovered a text thread hinting at possible attacks on African American women “from now through the inauguration.” However, they clarified that they have not received any credible information regarding threats to any groups on or after Election Day.

The Lexington Police, along with the Davidson County Chapter-Lexington Branch, are actively investigating the potential threat to determine its credibility. City spokesman Derwin Hargrave stated that while they have not confirmed it as a legitimate threat, they are taking the situation seriously and remaining vigilant.

The news of this disturbing threat has sparked concern among the community, and authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety and protection of all individuals, especially those targeted by such hateful ideologies. The investigation is ongoing, and more information is expected to be released as authorities continue to gather evidence and assess the credibility of the threat.
