The No. 4 Hawaii men’s volleyball team had a successful four-match series in North Carolina, with wins over Catawba College and Queens. Coach Charlie Wade utilized his reserves in the first match to secure a four-set victory, then unleashed the starting lineup in the second match for another four-set win. The team swept Belmont Abbey and Queens in the previous matches.
Against Catawba, the reserves, led by third-string setter Victor Lowe, stepped up with solid performances. Freshman Kainoa Wade and Finn Kearney also had strong showings, with Wade recording a season-high 18 kills and Kearney adding 14 kills. Clay Wieter contributed 14 kills of his own.
In the match against Queens, starting pin hitters Kristian Titriyski, Adriene Roure, and Louis Sakanoko led the charge. Despite a temporary stand by the Royals, UH managed to secure the win with a strong hitting performance. Libero ‘Eleu Choy ended the series with a season-high 11 digs.
Moving forward, the competition will intensify as the Rainbow Warriors return home to open Big West Conference play against No. 2 UC Irvine.
