Taylor and Davis appointed to district courts in North Carolina by Governor Stein


Governor Josh Stein announced on Monday, March 31 the appointment of Tia Hudgins Taylor to District Court for Judicial District 8 and Sonya Davis to District Court for Judicial District 9. Taylor will oversee Edgecombe, Nash, and Wilson Counties, filling the seat left vacant by Judge William Solomon’s retirement. She previously worked at Lassiter and Sperati, PLLC after obtaining her B.A. from Queens University of Charlotte and her J.D. from Elon University School of Law. Davis will oversee Greene, Lenoir, and Wayne Counties, filling the seat left vacant by Judge Beth Heath’s retirement. She previously worked as a solo practitioner in Kinston after obtaining her B.A. from North Carolina Central University and her J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law. Governor Stein praised both Taylor and Davis as exceptional attorneys who have dedicated themselves to the practice of law. He expressed confidence in their ability to serve impartially and diligently as jurists.
