Tar Heels Trio Named to 2024-25 All-ACC Academic Men’s Basketball Team
In an impressive recognition of both academic and athletic excellence, University of North Carolina Tar Heels players RJ Davis, Ven-Allen Lubin, and Cade Tyson were selected for the 2024-25 All-ACC Academic Men’s Basketball Team, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday.
RJ Davis, a graduate student hailing from White Plains, New York, is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in leadership development at UNC. This marks his third consecutive selection to the All-ACC Academic Team, highlighting his commitment to balancing academics with athletics.
Ven-Allen Lubin and Cade Tyson, both juniors majoring in exercise and sport science, join Davis in this prestigious recognition. Lubin is originally from Orlando, Florida, while Tyson comes from Monroe, North Carolina.
To qualify for the All-ACC Academic Team, athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, as well as a minimum GPA of 3.0 from the most recent academic semester or quarter. Additionally, players are required to have participated in at least 50% of their team’s games during the season.
This accolade not only underscores the individual accomplishments of Davis, Lubin, and Tyson but also reflects the commitment of the Tar Heel program towards fostering both academic achievement and athletic performance.
