Chapel Hill Salutes Six Tar Heels in IWLCA All-America Lacrosse Teams

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina women’s lacrosse team celebrates a remarkable achievement with six players recognized in the IWLCA All-America teams, announced on Thursday. Graduates Ashley Humphrey and Chloe Humphrey, along with junior Brooklyn Walker-Welch, secured first-team honors. Sam Forrest earned a spot on the second team, while Eliza Osburn and Ellie Traggio were named to the third team.

Ashley Humphrey, a graduate student from Darien, Conn., is a Tewaaraton Award finalist and the nation’s leading playmaker, having set the NCAA career assists record with 250. This season, she matched UNC’s record for points in a single season, posting 113 points through 31 goals and 82 assists, the latter being a national single-season record.

Freshman Chloe Humphrey, also a Darien native, made a sensational debut, breaking the NCAA record for freshman goals by scoring 79 while adding 27 assists for 106 points. A Tewaaraton Award finalist and ACC Tournament MVP, her aggressive play has greatly contributed to UNC’s top-ranked offense, averaging 17.6 goals per game.

Walker-Welch, from Courtice, Ontario, enhances the Tar Heels’ defense as a three-time All-American. With 26 groundballs and 16 caused turnovers, she has anchored a defense allowing just 6.95 goals per game, the fewest in the nation.

Defender Sam Forrest contributes significantly, tallying 18 groundballs and 17 caused turnovers. Freshman midfielder Eliza Osburn, recognized as ACC Freshman of the Year, scored 31 goals and assisted on eight, while Traggio, with 32 groundballs, has been integral to maintaining the nation’s top defense.
