North Carolina Baseball Museum Reschedules Celebrity Golf Tournament to Fall

The North Carolina Baseball Museum’s highly anticipated 23rd Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament, initially slated for May 14 and postponed to May 27 due to inclement weather, will now take place in the fall. The decision, announced by Kent Montgomery of the museum board, comes ahead of expected rain on the rescheduled date, June 6, at Wedgewood Public Golf Course.
This year marks a notable transition as for the first time, the tournament will be held in September. Previous tournaments in 2020 and 2021 were also adjusted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, occurring in August. Montgomery explained that September emerged as the most viable option since Wedgewood will soon close for a substantial renovation project focused on restructuring its greens.
The Celebrity Golf Tournament, along with the annual Wilson Hot Stove banquet, is one of the museum’s principal fundraising events. The Hot Stove banquet, celebrating its 50th year, is typically held in November, although an exact date has yet to be announced.
These events not only garner funds for the museum but also foster community spirit among baseball enthusiasts, bringing together former players and fans. With the tournament’s recent scheduling shift, attendees are eager for the opportunity to enjoy a round of golf with celebrities and legends from the baseball world later this year.
