UNC Sports Update: Women’s Lacrosse Triumphs; Tennis and Baseball Gear Up for Challenges
In a rollercoaster weekend for the University of North Carolina (UNC) athletics, the women’s lacrosse team shined brightly, while the tennis team faced setbacks. The Tar Heels defeated No. 13 seed LSU 4-2 in the quarterfinals, advancing to the semifinals, but lost to the top-seeded Georgia Bulldogs 4-0 after Brantmeier’s injury forced her to retire from singles play.
Meanwhile, the women’s lacrosse team celebrated a remarkable turnaround after a disappointing previous season, securing their fourth national championship. The top-seeded Tar Heels finished with an undefeated 22-0 record after defeating Northwestern 12-8 in the final.
