Mumbai – In the wake of the devastating Air India plane crash on Thursday that claimed 241 lives, actor Vikrant Massey took to social media to address confusion regarding the identity of one of the deceased, Clive Kunder.
Initially, Vikrant expressed his sorrow over the tragedy, revealing that his uncle, Clifford Kunder, had lost his son, Clive, who was the first officer on the flight. This led many to believe that Clive was his cousin, prompting Vikrant to clarify later in the evening.
“Dear friends in the media and elsewhere, the unfortunately diseased Mr. Clive Kunder was not my cousin. The Kunders are our family friends. Request no more speculations and let the family and loved ones grieve in peace,” Vikrant wrote on his Instagram Stories.
The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 people, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. Only one passenger has reportedly survived the tragedy, which occurred moments after Capt. Sumeet Sabharwal issued a Mayday call.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu announced that a formal investigation has been launched by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) in accordance with international protocols set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
