Boston’s Pride Parade Returns: How to Attend and Watch the Celebration

In Washington D.C., officials and supporters gathered at the John A. Wilson building to raise the Pride flag, marking the start of Pride Month—a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and its ongoing fight for equal rights. This month serves as a reminder of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, which sparked a significant shift in LGBTQ+ activism following a police raid at the Stonewall Inn in New York City.

Cities across the U.S. are holding various events, including parades, in honor of Pride Month. One such event is the Boston Pride For the People parade, scheduled for June 14, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The parade will begin on Clarendon Street at St. James Avenue, winding through the city before culminating at Charles Street, alongside the Public Garden and Boston Common. In addition to the parade, a festival is planned from noon to 6 p.m., followed by a block party from 2 to 8 p.m.

This year marks the third year that the organization has hosted Pride celebrations in Boston, emphasizing inclusivity and community. Spectators can line the parade route to enjoy the festive atmosphere and support the participants as they celebrate pride and advocate for equality.

As LGBTQ+ advocates acknowledge the challenges posed by political opposition, including perceived “bullying” from past administrations, Pride Month remains a crucial time for recognition and activism within the community.
