Nationwide “No Kings” Protests Erupt in Dallas-Fort Worth Against Trump Administration Policies
Thousands of protesters across the Dallas-Fort Worth area participated in nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations on Saturday, expressing discontent with the Trump administration’s policies. In Dallas, attendance peaked at around 10,000 individuals, converging outside City Hall to voice their concerns.
The “No Kings” protests were part of a broader movement scheduled in nearly 2,000 locations across the country, uniting participants from urban centers to rural towns. Monica Haught, a Frisco resident, highlighted the collective frustration, stating, “There’s a lot of people unhappy with the current administration,” emphasizing the need for unity to inspire change.
In Fort Worth, attendees gathered at Burnett Park, chanting slogans like “No, kings. Yes, queens,” and featuring a dramatic display by women dressed in red cloaks reminiscent of The Handmaid’s Tale. Organizer Sabrina Ball remarked on the symbolism of oppression, stressing, “If we don’t act now, we will lose our country.”
Dallas demonstrators also echoed calls for change, with signs reading, “No kings since 1776.” Desiree Sezer, a young participant, reflected her transformation from a Trump supporter to an opponent, driven by her university education and a desire for broader perspectives.
While tensions surrounding protests often anticipate unrest, the day remained largely peaceful with police present to ensure safety. Frisco saw similar responses, with signs declared, “Democracy doesn’t fear protest.”
The No Kings movement, founded by the national group 50501, symbolizes collective resistance against what participants deem authoritarian actions, culminating in a raw display of democracy and dissent against the backdrop of President Trump’s birthday celebrations.
