Aggies Shine at 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships
EUGENE, Ore. – The 2025 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field, showcasing the impressive skills of North Carolina A&T’s junior athlete, Spirit Morgan. Competing against the nation’s best, Morgan secured a tie for ninth place in the women’s high jump, clearing a height of 6 feet, ½ inches, and earned second-team All-American honors for her outstanding performance.
Morgan, a transfer from the University of Cincinnati, had a stellar season, highlighted by her victories in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) indoor championships and an outdoor title with a personal record jump of 6 feet, ¾ inches. With her placement at the nationals, she has solidified her position among the top ten high jumpers nationally.
Alongside Morgan, junior teammate Olivia Dowd represented the Aggies in the women’s triple jump, making her the first A&T athlete to qualify in this event for outdoor nationals. Dowd finished 23rd with a best leap of 40 feet, 10 ½ inches after battling a challenging competition. Earlier, she set a personal record of 43 feet, 4 ½ inches to qualify for the nationals.
The championship marked a historic season for the Aggies’ track and field program, as the men’s team captured both indoor and outdoor CAA titles, and a total of 24 student-athletes qualified for the East Prelims, with 11 advancing to nationals. Additionally, the women made strides in throw events, marking the first time two throw athletes qualified for regionals, including Julieth Nwosu.
As the season wraps up, the accomplishments of Morgan and Dowd signify the growth and success of North Carolina A&T’s track and field program on a national stage.
